01 · The project
Brief
A net zero carbon administrative and academic building for the First Nations Technical Institute. The facility speaks to FNTI’s long term stewardship of land and natural resources, and to its commitment to mitigating climate change, so the carbon strategy was part of the brief rather than a target added later.
Approach
A detailed, integrated design process to maximise the performance of the envelope and the use of passive systems, before implementing high performance, fully electric active mechanical systems. We targeted Living Building Challenge, Zero Carbon and 100% onsite renewable energy.
