Brief

A multi tenant office building in Waterloo, imagined in partnership with Sustainable Waterloo Region and achieving zero carbon and net positive energy at a time when no building in Canada had been certified for both design and performance. The pro forma is unforgiving, so the target had to survive commercial scrutiny.

Outcome

Complete in 2018. Canada’s first zero carbon building certified for design and performance, net positive, and LEED Platinum. Still the reference project we point to when a client says a zero carbon building costs more.
