Alternative delivery methods: Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) for low carbon buildings.

Brief

Sustainable design, mechanical and energy engineering across three buildings at Chalk River: a support facility for maintenance and manufacturing, the Minwamon public welcome building, and a six storey science collaboration centre. All three are mass timber, all three were delivered through an integrated project delivery process.

Challenge

Integrating cost effective and constructable low embodied and operational carbon strategies across a range of building typologies. Justifying and modelling real impact through the design process, construction and building lifespan.

Outcome

Delivered and complete in 2023, all three buildings under one coordinated mechanical strategy.
